Pharmaceutics is the discipline of pharmacy that deals with the science of dosage form design and embraces all facets of the process of turning a new chemical entity (NCE) into a medication that can be safely and effectively used by patients in the community.
The Department of Pharmaceutics provides curricular content in the areas of physical pharmacy, biopharmaceutics, pharmaceutical compounding and dosage form design, in the Bachelor of pharmacy (B. Pharm) and the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree programs. The department’s graduate education program prepares graduates & master’s with scientific competence in preformulation, formulation development, pharmaceutical processing/ manufacturing, and targeted drug delivery systems.
At the Department of Pharmaceutics, we lay emphasis on improving health care system, patience compliance by constantly working on modern and indigenous drugs and their formulations. The department is constantly upgrading its quality of education and research to meet the advance demands of professionals in the field. The faculty members are encouraged to serve as resourceful personal in their areas of expertise, contributing in nation upgrading.

Mission
To create an environment conducive for pursuing quality teaching and research and to provide students and research scholars with a basic understanding of designing dosage forms and drug delivery systems, evaluation and manufacturing.
Department Education Objective
- To encourage students to develop skills required for designing pharmaceutical dosage forms and novel drug delivery systems.
- To provide students to pursue their program of study that is directed toward meeting individual career objectives in the area of pharmacokinetics, pharmacometrics and drug delivery including new technology.
- To train students about various manufacturing techniques for solid, semi-solid and liquid dosage form as per GMP standards.
- To provide students regarding the concepts of new drug development process, regulatory requirements for effective delivery of pharmaceutical products.
- To train the students for developing, compiling and filing documentation required to support the licensing and approval of pharmaceutical products.
- To train students concerning strict quality control processes such as documentation control, deviation, corrective and preventive action, audits etc.
- To train undergraduate and postgraduate students with leveraging drug delivery expertise with emerging technologies to fulfil the current regulatory agency needs.

- Analyse problems with current drug therapy, formulate solutions and identify risks associated with the solutions in order to deliver the best pharmaceutical care to the patient

Dr. Mohammed Altaf Ahmed(M. Pharm PhD) is working as Professor and H.O.D in the Department of Pharmaceutics. He possesses around 20+ Years of Teaching and Research National and International Experience. He also has 32 Research Publication in various National and International journals and four Patents. He is a member of Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India. His area of expertise includes. Formulation of Targeted Mucoadhesive, Hydrogels Nano-delivery of Natural and Synthetic Drugs, Smart Drug delivery systems or devices for Target delivery of drug. Analysis and Bioanalysis of chemical Entities and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) by Instruments like UPLC-MS/MS, DSC, UPLC, HPLC, LC-MS, UPLC-MS/MS, NMR, UV. He is recognized PG Guide for RGUHs Co-Guide of ANU and JJTu University for Ph.D. Programmes.

Dr. Sunil Firangi

Dr Sunil Firangi, M.Pharm, M.Phil, Ph.D., working as professor in the Department of Pharmaceutics with MAM college of Pharmacy, Kalaburagi (Karnataka).He has 20 years of teaching & research experience. He has published one text book of Novel Drug Delivery System for the course B.pharm 7th semester & also published 29 research articles in various reputed National & International journals. He also holds the credit of having 2 patents in his name.
He is Recognised PG guide for the last 12 years & successfully guided more than 16 PG students affiliated to RGUHS. He also holds the position of Member for Board of Studies of prestigious Sharnabasava University Kalaburagi.
He is a life member of Karnataka State Pharmacy Council, APTI & IRCS.

Nadeem Hasan a Pharmacist and Educator by profession, “With over 14 years of experience in academics within the realm of Pharmaceutical Sciences, He had the privilege of contributing to the advancement of knowledge in this field through numerous international and national publications in esteemed peer-reviewed journals. His expertise encompasses various facets of pharmaceutical sciences, including drug discovery, formulation development, NDDS, Bio-Adhesive drug delivery and pharmacy practice.
Throughout his academic tenure, He has honed his critical evaluation skills, ensuring rigor and objectivity in assessing research manuscripts. His extensive experience in academic and research settings enables him to provide constructive feedback, facilitating the improvement of manuscripts and contributing to the enrichment of scientific literature. He has 9 Publications in Various Journal of International and National repute.
