The primary mission of the pharmacy profession is to have a positive impact on the provision of public health service by ensuring the safe and effective use of medications. There are various facets to this mission, including the preparation and distribution of medications, as well as contact with patients and other members of the healthcare team.
Practice of Pharmacy
According to the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP), the practice of pharmacy involves the:
- Interpretation, evaluation and implementation of medical orders
- Dispensing of prescription drugs
- Participation in the selection of drugs and medical devices
- Administration of medication
- Review of drug regimens
- Research about drugs and related topics
- Provision of patient counseling
- Compounding and labeling of drugs and devices
- Appropriate storage of drugs and medical devices
- Maintenance of medical records
Pharm D is Doctor of Pharmacy. Pharm D course duration is Six Years and is a professional doctoral degree in Pharmacy, which is typically required to become a licensed pharmacist. Pharmacists with a Pharm D course degree are trained to provide patient care and medication management, including dispensing prescription medications, providing drug information to patients and healthcare professionals, monitoring patient health and medication therapies, and collaborating with other healthcare providers to optimize patient outcomes
Scope of PharmD
At the end of the course, the Clinical pharmacists develop and acquire knowledge and skill to provide pharmaceutical care services, drug and poison information services, patient counseling, identify drug-drug interactions, monitor adverse drug reactions, carry out therapeutic drug monitoring, help in drug dosage adjustment in special population, assist/co-ordinate in the conduct of clinical trials, promote rational use of medicines and ultimately contribute to better patient care.
There is a huge need of a Pharm D course as now-a-days there are huge drug related problems, irrational drug use and non-compliance to therapy among patients suffering from various chronic diseases. Pharmaceutical care by a physician along with the technical expertise of clinical Pharmacist is the ultimate and best way of achieving better patient care.

Eligibility To Take Admission:
In order to get admission in the course, candidates must meet the entry criteria for PharmD as mentioned below.
Candidate shall have passed 10+2 examination conducted by the respective State / Central government authorities with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (P.C.M) and or Biology (P.C.B/ P.C.M.B) as optional subjects individually with the required percentage of marks (50% overall Grade point average).
Duration of the Course
The duration of the course shall be six academic years during which 5 years is academic session and sixth year is completely bound to internship or residency training in hospital, involving posting in specialty units. During six years, students are exposed to actual Pharmacy practice or Clinical pharmacy services and acquires skill under supervision so that he or she may become capable of functioning independent.

Mr. Riyaz Miya is a distinguished academician with 14 years of teaching experience at degree and Pharm D levels. He is a research guide for Pharm D and guided 100 Pharm D students till now and currently working as a Associate Professor and in charge of Pharm D in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at MAM College of Pharmacy Gulbarga, Karnataka.
He has completed his B.Pharm and M.Pharm in Pharmacy Practice from HKE Society’s College of Pharmacy Gulbarga in 2009 and 2012 respectively and he mentors students in Hospital activity during hospital visit and contributes to the academic growth of future Clinical Pharmacists.

Dr. Vidyashree is working as Assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacy practice. She has done Doctor of Pharmacy HKES’s Matoshree Taradevi Rampure Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences which is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science Karnataka Bangalore. She is having 2.5 Years of Teaching Experience. Her area of expertise includes drug drug interaction, drug therapy monitoring, patient counselling.

Dr. Sadiya Suha

Dr. Sadiya Suha is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at MAM College of Pharmacy. She holds a PharmD from RMES College of Pharmacy, affiliated with RGUHS, Bangalore. With three years of clinical pharmacist experience, she has worked with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes, medication management, drug safety, dose monitoring, and patient counseling. Passionate about clinical pharmacy, she is committed to continuous learning and making a meaningful impact in the field.

Dr. IRSHAD ALAM

Dr. Irshad Alam Birajdar is working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at MAM College of pharmacy Kalaburagi. He Completed his PHARM -D (DOCTOR OF PHARMACY) from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Bangalore Karnataka . His area of expertise includes As a clinical pharmacy intern at Gulbarga Institute of Medical Sciences Kalaburagi. and as DMO at Manur Multi-Specialty Hospital as well.
In addition to his extensive experience as a Clinical Pharmacologist at AIG Hospitals Hyderabad, worked with healthcare teams to optimize medication therapy for patients, conducted medication history reconciliation and patient history reviews, prescription auditing, appropriateness review, identifying adverse drug reactions and reporting, dosage adjustments and compatible dilutions based on patient co morbidities and handling preparing and labelling of high concentrated electrolytes from 2023 to 2024.
